Sleep Services
If you’re among the 50 to 70 million Americans with intermittent sleep problems, Fidelity Health Care can help. If left untreated, sleep disorders can cause:
- Hypertension
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Depression
- Diabetes
Fidelity Health Care, in collaboration with your physician, can provide the tools you need to treat sleep disorders. The first step often is a sleep study, arranged by your physician. Once study results are available, our respiratory therapists will collaborate with your physician to develop your treatment plan.
Under the guidance of a Fidelity Health Care respiratory therapist, we’ll work with you to obtain the equipment your physician prescribes.
What Equipment Typically is Needed to Treat Sleep Disorders?
- CPAP machine: This machine uses mild air pressure to keep your breathing airways open.
- Bilevel machine: This machine is much like the CPAP, but it delivers an inhale pressure and an exhale pressure.
Whether you are prescribed a CPAP or Bilevel, you will also need these supplies:
- Mask or other device that fits over your nose or your nose and mouth
- Straps to position the mask
- A tube that connects the mask to the machine’s motor
How Can Fidelity Respiratory Therapists Assist You?
Our therapists will arrange for the proper equipment to be provided to you. They will work with you to fit the mask to your face. And they will be certain you know how to properly and safely use the equipment at bedtime.
We also can help determine if your insurance will cover the cost.
How Can You Arrange For Sleep Services?
Our sleep services are provided at the order of your doctor. If you believe you would benefit from our sleep services, or from respiratory therapy, speak with your doctor or contact a Premier Health sleep center near you.
