Enrollment Requirements

Program enrollment is required to use the Family Beginnings Birthing Center at Miami Valley Hospital.

Here is enrollment information for first-time mothers.

  • You must register for Family Beginnings orientation. This orientation can only be signed up for by calling (937) 208-4597(937) 208-4597. Classes include a Family Beginnings Birthing Center tour. We highly recommended that your support person attend this class with you. Ideally, you should attend this class during your second trimester (around 28 to 32 weeks). Masks are required to be worn at all times while you’re in the hospital.
  • Attend a childbirth education class of your choice, e-learning or in-person are both acceptable. You can register online.
  • Attend a prenatal appointment with a Family Beginnings Birth Center nurse, between 34 and 36 weeks, to return your required paperwork. Masks are required to be worn at all times while you’re in the hospital.

Returning Family Beginnings mothers can call (937) 208-4597(937) 208-4597 To speak directly to a Family Beginnings nurse about re-enrollment and requirements. Expectant mothers who are 34 or more weeks of gestation also may call to discuss late enrollment options.

For Second Or Higher Children

If you're expecting your second (or higher) child and have not had a previous birth at our Family Beginnings Birth Center, you will still need to enroll in the program and attend our orientation class, as well as the prenatal appointment.
