The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) is a set of standardized performance measures developed by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires the use of HEDIS standardized measures to assess quality and performance across managed care organizations. The measures facilitate an objective comparison of quality across health plans.
