Headache Center Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to CNSI Headache Center frequently asked questions.
What are Headaches?
Headache is one of the most common types of pain we experience. Pain from headache can be felt in the head, face, or neck, and vary in intensity, frequency, and strength. Headaches and headache disorders can be triggered by environmental factors, such as stress, or may result from another health condition. At the Clinical Neuroscience Institute’s Headache Center, we offer a broad scope of treatment options for a variety of headache symptoms.
What causes Headaches?
Primary headaches – those that come with no other symptoms – can be genetic, or can be brought by stress, causing throbbing or pulsing pain in the head, neck, or face. Secondary headaches are those that are symptoms of another health condition, such as trauma or disease.
What are some signs of Headaches?
Headaches can develop on one or both sides of the head, or in the face or neck. The pain may be moderate, or severe, such as throbbing. Severe conditions such as migraines may also come with nausea, sensitivity to light, and fatigue.
How are headaches diagnosed?
Understanding your symptoms is key for a doctor when diagnosing a headache. This may include a review of your family and medical history, or a physical examination. Arriving at a specific diagnosis may depend on identifying the intensity of the pain, its frequency, and what, if other, symptoms accompany or precede the condition.
