What You Can Expect from a Teaching Practice

All of our facilities are teaching facilities. During your visit, you may be interviewed, examined, and/or treated by a resident or a medical student under the supervision of one of our doctors, who are faculty members of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. This unique model offers several advantages, including:

  • Your physician is aware of the latest research, technology, and techniques in order to provide the best, most relevant information to our medical students, providing you with the very best care.
  • Our faculty strives to recruit the very best students to family medicine, ensuring that the next generation of family physicians will be there to care for you and your family.

Your Appointment

Please bring a physical copy of your health insurance card, your Wright1 card, and a list of your current medications, including vitamins, herbal supplements, or over-the-counter medications. Please also bring a list of allergies. If you are seeing other physicians (specialists, etc.), bring their names and addresses. Also, if you have experienced any medication and/or health changes, please inform the physician.

Established patients also should bring their insurance card(s) and Wright1 card to each visit. You will be asked to complete a new Patient Registration Form annually so that your information is updated and you renew permission for your insurance to be billed.

All patients should come prepared to pay any co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurances at the time of their visit.

If you are coming in for medication refills that require fasting labs, please schedule a lab appointment at least two days before your appointment. This ensures that we will have the results at your appointment.

After Your Visit

At the end of your visit, you will receive an After Visit Summary which will include your physician's instructions and appropriate education materials or suggestions.

If you don’t already have a MyChart account, you will be asked to sign up so that we will be able to communicate via our secure website as needed. Learn more about what MyChart features and how to create an account.

For chronic illnesses and medication follow-ups, appointments will be scheduled as needed.
