CPR Training
For teachers, coaches and other key staff. CPR certification is provided through the American Heart Association.
Death Avoidance with NARCAN® Training
Premier Health provides overdose education and training in NARCAN® (naloxone) administration to teachers and staff. The program is modeled after Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided with Naloxone), a community-based program endorsed by the Ohio Department of Health. Training and education include:
- Recognizing the signs and symptoms of overdose
- Distinguishing among different types of overdose
- Performing rescue breathing
- Calling emergency medical services
- Administering intranasal NARCAN®
Medication Administration Training
Medication administration training for staff ensures everyone is comfortable with providing emergency care to students in need.
Licensed School Nurse Certification
Premier Health provides professional development, supervised by a licensed school nurse (LSN), to assist school district employees in obtaining an LSN certification.
Our nurses also recommend and regularly attend advancement sessions throughout the year, sponsored by these organizations and programs:
- National Association of School Nurses
- Ohio Association of School Nurses
- Ohio Board of Health School Nurse Orientation
- Ohio Board of Health Ohio Training Program
- Hemoglobinopathy Counselor Training
- Workshops hosted by Dayton Children’s Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
Flu Shots
The single best way for teachers and staff to protect themselves against the flu is to get vaccinated each year. Premier Health staff can administer vaccines on site, keeping sickness at bay and absences to a minimum during flu season.
