The list is intended to help expectant families make informed choices about where to seek high quality care for uncomplicated pregnancies. To be recognized among the Best Hospitals for Maternity, hospitals must excel on multiple quality metrics that matter to expectant families. High-performing hospitals had fewer early deliveries, fewer C-sections, and fewer newborn complications than other hospitals, as well as higher rates of breast milk feeding. Only one-third of the hospitals evaluated by U.S. News for maternity care earned a high performing rating.

Miami Valley Hospital achieved a 3-Star Rating in Aortic Valve Replacement combined with Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (AVR-CABG) for 2025, a designation earned by only 4% to 7% of programs nationally, according to STS. In addition, Miami Valley Hospital earned a 3-Star Rating for Multiprocedural Cardiac Surgery. Overall, a new and highly selective STS category. This ranking placed the hospital’s cardiac surgery program among the top 10% of programs in the U.S. and Canada for comprehensive cardiac care.

Ratings are based on data submitted to the STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Database over a three-year period, from January 2022 through December 2024.
