Advanced Practice Providers (APP) and Nursing Graduate Student Clinical Placement Program
Clinical placements are an essential element of students’ graduate education, providing them with an opportunity to apply the concepts, care methods, and care coordination principles they learn in the classroom to direct work with patients. Clinical rotations for APPs allow a chance to assume the role of an autonomous provider, while still benefiting from the supervision and guidance of a preceptor.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Student Program assists the roles of the Physician Assistant (PA) and the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). The APRN encompasses four roles: certified nurse midwife (CNM), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), clinical nurse specialist (CNS), and nurse practitioner (NP). In addition to APRNs and PAs, the APP Student Program assists RNs who are seeking an advanced nursing graduate degree such as MSN or DNP and would like to do their clinical hours at a Premier location.
The APP and Nursing Graduate Program coordinator maintains oversight of the required student documents for clinical placement and ensures all necessary forms are up-to-date and accurate prior to student placement at a Premier facility.
Premier Health has the right to limit the number of clinical experiences per student. Additionally, some clinical areas are in high demand with limited resources, such as pediatrics, women’s health, & mental health. As such, there may be times where placement in those programs are not possible. Current Premier Health employees will receive priority for placement, however clinical placement for employees is not guaranteed. Placement requests for Women's Health are NOT being accepted at this time, please do not submit any preceptor requests for Women's Health.
