About Your Appointment
Your initial appointment for Premier Health outpatient nutrition counseling or diet education will take about 90 minutes. Follow-up sessions may be scheduled, if needed.
Arrive about 20 minutes ahead of your appointment time and come prepared:
- During the three days before your appointment, write down everything you eat and drink, including quantities. Bring this to your appointment.
- Jot down questions you want to ask the dietitian, to make sure you don’t forget anything.
- Collect and bring food labels to discuss with the dietitian, if you want.
- At your appointment, you’ll be asked to provide a brief medical and lifestyle history.
- Invite family to join you. We welcome them, especially the cook of your house, if that’s not you.
- Bring your insurance card.
During your appointment, you and your dietitian will make a plan that covers foods to eat, cooking methods, shopping tips, and lifestyle advice to help you live as healthfully as possible with your medical condition.
Your insurance company will be billed for your medical nutrition therapy session. If your insurance plan does not cover nutrition counseling, you will be billed, and payment plans can be arranged.
