Atrium Medical Center welcomes Beth Besecker, MD, as chief medical officer, bringing more than 20 years of experience as a specialty clinician, educator, and quality improvement leader. Known for her collaborative approach and passion for advancing patient care, Dr. Besecker has built a career focused on enhancing safety, improving outcomes, and empowering physicians and providers to deliver their best work.

Before joining Atrium, she served as chief physician quality officer and vice president of quality and patient safety at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, where she led quality initiatives across both hospital and outpatient settings. Her leadership helped shape a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork—values that strongly align with Premier Health’s mission.

A proud Ohio native, Dr. Besecker earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Ohio, completed her Internal Medicine residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital, and her fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She also served as an associate professor in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University, where she helped prepare the next generation of physicians—a connection that supports Premier Health’s expanding academic mission.

In addition, Dr. Besecker holds an MBA from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and is completing a fellowship with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), further strengthening her commitment to leading with both clinical and operational excellence.

Raised on a farm in southwest Ohio, Dr. Besecker learned early the value of hard work, teamwork, and service to others. Her experience in 4-H leadership roles helped shape her sense of responsibility and community—qualities that continue to define her leadership today. She and her husband have two children and are happy to be back home in the Miami Valley community.

Dr. Besecker’s administrative office is located in the executive offices at Atrium Medical Center. I encourage you to reach out to Dr. Besecker and welcome her to the team!
