NICU Nurse Joins Newsletter Team

The editorial board for Premier Nursing News, Premier Health’s quarterly newsletter for nurses, now features the representation and contributions of a bedside nurse.

Joshua Lumpkin’s background features an array of unique personal and professional experiences that position him well for taking on this role in addition to his patient care responsibilities as a member of the Small Baby Team, Bereavement Team, and Developmental Committee at Miami Valley Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where he has served as an RN since March 2017.

For the past few years, Josh has served as a contributing writer for Cox Media Group, creating engaging syndicated articles for Dayton.com, Dayton Daily News, and WHIO news, and as a creator/host for the Best.Trivia.Ever event brand in Dayton, managing all tasks associated with operating regular trivia entertainment events at Blind Bob’s and Citilites restaurants and writing, compiling, and adapting trivia questions and creating word puzzles each week.

Additionally, Josh has served as a freelance writer for Dayton City Paper and worked as a patient care technician (PCT) on HV6 at Miami Valley Hospital. Before becoming a PCT, Josh worked in the hospital’s Nutrition Services department, preparing food in the kitchen as well as delivering meals to those receiving inpatient care.

Josh is also active in community service. He created Dayton’s “Geek Gala” charity event that benefits Dayton Children’s Hospital through the Extra Life program and Children’s Miracle Network – an event that has raised more than $10,000 for the children’s hospital. He also serves as a guest relations ambassador at Community Blood Center; volunteers for PUSH Dayton (Professionals United for Sexual Health), a professionals group advancing sexual health awareness in the greater Dayton; is involved with the Walnut Hills Neighborhood Association, is co-founder, writer, and editor-in-chief at GeekDayton.com; and more.

Josh’s hobbies include cycling, hiking, technology, board gaming, fiction writing, music, and current events. He is working toward earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Wright State University and is graduate of Sinclair Community College, receiving associate degrees in nursing and history.
