What is a fragility fracture?

Fragility fractures are pathologic fractures that occur in bone that is not normal after what you would consider a normal activity, such as a fall from standing height, or when a bone breaks after a trip and fall not all the way to the ground. If you were a normal 25-year-old, those types of injuries would not cause these fractures, but as we age we lose bone mass and it causes these fractures and low mechanism injuries.
