Typically I tell patient’s hip replacement surgery is something you want to consider once your hip arthritis is significantly affecting your quality of life such that you aren’t able or aren’t willing to do the things that you enjoy anymore. Hip replacement surgery is typically a surgery that takes around one hour. Patients typically require a one night stay in the hospital and their recovery from hip replacement on average is approximately a month and a half. Meaning it’s a month and a half before you’re significantly better than you were before surgery, and you’re starting to take it back to those activities that you weren’t able to do prior to surgery.
