Is osteoarthritis age related?

Some people wonder if this is an age related problem. The answer is yes and no. It's not unheard of for us to see someone in their seventies or eighties who have no arthritis in any of their joints, so in that case, it's not. We can see fifty year olds who have advanced arthritis. Now the understanding is that as we age, we use our bodies more and if we have a predisposition of getting the problem in the first place, age probably plays a factor at that point.
