In our unit, the results are called out by either the genetic counselors or our nurses. If they are normal, you will be notified on an individual basis by one of these staff persons.
If the tests come back as you being at increased risk for preeclampsia, a certified nurse practitioner who is specially trained to discuss this issue will be contacting you. She will describe to you what the results of the test are and, in general terms, about what should be done and changed in your care. Additionally, one of the maternal fetal medicine providers will be contacting your doctor directly to give a specific recommendation for your care.
