What are the signs that muscle soreness shouldn't be ignored?

There are a few signs where we do tell folks that it's concerning when their muscle soreness doesn't go away. Typically, those include swelling of the muscles or the extremity, pain in the joints, or if they actually urinate and their urine is dark brown. That is a sign that the muscles are actually broken down past the point of healing on their own. That's when we advise that folks come in and have us take a look at them.
