What causes fragility fractures?

Fragility fractures occur in patients that have somewhere on the spectrum of osteopenia and osteoporosis. As people age, your peak bone density or the hardness of your bone stops accumulating at around age 30 and from then on you start to gradually lose your bone density. Especially in women, after menopause that bone density tends to drop dramatically unless some lifestyle changes or medication changes are made.
