Who is a candidate for breast reconstruction?

The good news is most women are candidates for breast reconstruction, whether they've had a mastectomy or a lumpectomy. As long as the patient is in relatively good overall health, and they're in acceptable surgical risk, then they can have these surgeries to help restore shape and function to their breasts. There are multiple ways to do it, some using portions of the patient's own body to help reconstruct their breast, others using none of theirs, using implants.
